The Borealis Music Prize is both run and sponsored by The Overcast, and was heavily inspired by The Atlantis Prize before it. This year's winner was Jon Hynes, for Watchful Creatures. The compilation name owes its witty "Big Shiny Tunes" throwback to Nick Ryan. It's worth noting that EPs with less than 6 songs were ineligible for the award, and there were some damn good ones, not to mention the glaring absences of some amazing LPs.
